Welcome to Code for the Globe

WHAT DID WE DO ABOUT IT

Data scientist and computer programmer:

from Silicon Valley and three other countries joined in to democratize data for Sri Lanka. Join us at the inaugural Code for the Globe Hackathon Friday April 8th at Stanford University and across the world.

On April 8th, over 20 data scientists and computer programmers from Silicon Valley and beyond volunteered their time for a 24-hour hackathon at Stanford University to create a free app for Sri Lankans. This app, Ekata (meaning Together in Sinhalese), provides a free service allowing Sri Lankans to retrieve critical information about power cuts in real time, all from the convenience of their phone. Ekata.lk launches in early May. Additional features will be unlocked soon, always for free.
